Catechetical aspect of Precatechumenate

Catechesis during this period of the RCIA process involves handing on "a suitable explanation of the Gospel." (RCIA, 38)

The Gospel message should include the following elements: Who is God? What does He want? Who am I? What does it mean to believe? Who is Jesus? What difference does it make to believe in God? The Problem of Sin, Salvation History, God's Plan and Meaning for me, What must I do to believe? What is Faith, Hope, Love?

With the help of God, through this catechetical process, inquirers have their questions answered, come to receive a beginning or deepening of faith, and begin to experience a calling away from sin, a sign of initial conversion. (RCIA, 37)
