During this period, there are no liturgical rites because those inquiring into the Faith  have not yet entered into a relationship with the Church.

However, "... pastors should help those taking part [in the Precatechumenate] with prayers suited to them (n. 40 RCIA text). Suggestions for this period:

  • Explain and use the Sign of the Cross

  • Offer a booklet of Basic Catholic Prayers

  • Begin a simple, reflective, meditative prayer
