Pastoral Aspect of the Precatechumenate

"The [candidates] are to receive help and attention so that with a purified and clearer intention they may cooperate with God's grace." (RCIA, 38)

The pastoral work of the RCIA process is personal, and is accomplished through the love and charity of others. In this pastoral aspect, the labor of many are involved in the process as a whole. This includes: Priests, Catechists, Sponsors, Small Group leaders, and all Team members.

In preparation for the Rite of Acceptance/Welcoming, inquirers should show elements of initial conversion. This includes: turning away from sin, evidence of willingness to change one's life, a beginning or deepening of prayer and some experience and growing sense of the Church.
