Unit RecognitionThe NCCS has various Cub and Boy Scout unit recognition programs. See the requirements for each recognition on the NCCS website. Pope Paul IV National Catholic Quality Unit AwardOf prime importance to the National Catholic Committee on Scouting® is concern for top-quality Catholic-chartered Scouting units. This program exists to promote Catholic membership and to Promote and recognize effective youth and adult leadership in fostering teachings of the Catholic Church, to recognize outstanding Catholic Scout Units and provide each Catholic youth with a deeper understanding of their Catholic teachings in the area of religious, vocational & educational aspects through participation in the BSA program(s) by participation in units under Catholic-sponsored organizations, and to recognize and respect those of different faith. Not all members need to be Catholic. Gold Medallion AwardThe Gold Medallion Award program is established to identify and recognize the outstanding Catholic Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, and Venturing Crew/Ship in each of the fifteen Episcopal Regions of the United States. It is also intended to promote the National Catholic Committee on Scouting initiative to increase Scouting units, youth members, and adult leaders. National Gold Medallion winners epitomize those units that excel at providing youth with quality programs including religious activities, religious emblems participation, outdoor activities, and special events that encompass the religious, vocational, and educational aspects of Scouting under Catholic auspices. Golden Bow Membership InitiativeThe National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS) is in the midst of a National Catholic Membership Initiative which is a joint emphasis of the NCCS and the Boy Scouts of America. This program has four major goals:
A set of Golden Bow recognitions is available for units and leadership working to meet these goals and increase the availability of Scouting to Catholic youth. Unit Recognition CeremonyAll Unit Recognitions will be presented to a Unit Leader at Youth Recognition Sunday at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman by the Bishop. Typically in June.
