Eucharistic Adoration

“So you could not keep watch with Me for one hour?” (Matthew 26:40). With these words, Jesus admonishes Peter, James and John who fell asleep and did not keep His mandate to “Remain here and keep watch with Me,” (Matthew 26:38) during His agony in the garden. With these words, Jesus also speaks to Catholics today. Can we spend one hour with Him?

Many parishes schedule Eucharistic Adoration on a regular basis and some parishes have perpetual adoration, which is the continuous exposition and Adoration of the Eucharist, twenty four hours a day.

If you desire to participate in Adoration, but are unable to due to your personal circumstances, you can, with the help of the Eucharistic calendar (below) join your prayers and contemplation with Catholics participating in Eucharistic Adoration at the same time.

Laura Kloess, who was instrumental in establishing the Marshfield Deanery Adoration Committee in 2008, said that, “since the beginning of Adoration, people have come to realize what a beautiful blessing it is to have the Lord physically present in the Eucharist ... to be able to pray to Him for our needs and the needs of others, and for spiritual comfort during the week.”

Official Catholic teachings consider the exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament an important practice which "stimulates the faithful to an awareness of the marvelous presence of Christ and is an invitation to spiritual communion with Him."
