Our warmest congratulations on your
engagement! The love that you share with one another has brought you to this
time of discernment a time of prayer, a time of discovery, and a time to
determine whether God is calling you to the lifelong vocation of marriage.
These programs fulfill part of the requirements for
marriage preparation that each engaged couple is required to complete before
their wedding.
Though they may vary in length, cost, and format, the program
content is consistent with the expectations of the Bishops of Wisconsin.
Your pastor, pastoral associate, or deacon can best direct you
in your planning.

"Each of us is called by God to love - to make a gift of
ourselves to God and others. This is the fundamental vocation of every human
being. Your specific call appears to be the married state where you will
daily seek "to will the good of another."
(Catechism of the Catholic Church #1766)
To live a lifetime together with another
human being is a great challenge and requires an abundance of God’s grace
through the sacrament of marriage. Ultimately it is your responsibility to
assist your future spouse in knowing, loving and serving God so that you may
share eternity together.
It is our hope that your experience
of preparing for this sacred vocation of marriage will strengthen your love
and understanding of one another. May God bless you throughout this process
and may you experience a lifetime of happiness together.
