The motto, “To restore all things in Christ,” was that of Pope St. Pius X, a champion of liturgical reform and active participation by the laity in the Church’s liturgy. The image of Christ as the slain Lamb of God over the Heavenly Jerusalem--in whose liturgy we on earth participate--was drawn under the direction of Eric Gill and appeared on the first issue of Orate Fratres magazine (now Worship) in 1924.
