A New School for Holy Family Parish

Thanks to the vision, persistence, and generosity of parishioners from Holy Family Parish in Arcadia, the parish has a brand new Parish Education center that was blessed by Bishop Listecki on November 23, 2009. Students now have an exceptional facility with a dedicated science lab, computer lab and library to enhance the spiritual and intellectual growth of the children in the school. Congratulations to Fr. Klos and the Holy Family Community for their exceptional achievement.

    Loyal Celebrates

          100 Years

On September 20, 2009 St. Anthony School in Loyal, Wisconsin celebrated their 100th birthday.  Built in 1909, St. Anthony School (at that time named St. Balthasar School)  opened in January or February of 1910 with 100 students, taught by two lay teachers.  In the fall of 1910 two sisters from St. Rose Convent in La Crosse came to teach at the school.  For some time during the 1920's, St. Balthasar School included a two year high school. In 1932 the name of the parish and school was changed to St. Anthony of Padua.  The school was enlarged in the 1950's and another addition was built in the 1960's.  Today, St. Anthony School has 67 students in grades K - 6. Under the leadership of Sister Carol Schnitzler, St. Anthony School continues to carry on the mission of inspiring souls, touching hearts, and challenging minds.   Congratulations to St. Anthony School in Loyal for their 100 years of service in the Diocese of La Crosse!

Coulee Catholic Schools

becomes

Aquinas Catholic Schools

On July 1, 2009 the Catholic Schools of La Crosse, WI officially changed the school system's identity to Aquinas Catholic Schools.  The Aquinas name is recognized as a national, state, and regional leader in academics, faith, athletics, and the arts.  Because the foundation for these successes are laid and developed through all schools in the system, sharing the Aquinas name builds a stronger connection for students, parents, and teachers of all grades.  In addition, St. Thomas Aquinas is the patron saint of all Catholic Schools.  Therefore use of the Aquinas name enhances the Catholic Identity of all the schools in the system.  President Kurt Nelson states, "With this name change, we look forward to increasing the community profile of our school system as a whole."
